Early in my career, as a Learning Specialist and then as Director of Special Education, in public and private schools, I realized educating and supporting children and their parents was more than enjoyable for me. It was my great interest, even a calling.
My first child taught me the challenges of parenting. That experience led me to my next career step, helping new families as a postpartum doula. I earned my certification through DONA (Doulas of North America) and have worked as a postpartum doula since 2005.
In my work I noticed many new mother’s struggling with breastfeeding. Since breastfeeding is a natural process I believed most women, if helped, could breastfeed. I became a lactation consultant by earning my IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) credential.
In my role as lactation consultant I give non-judgmental support to families in the comfort of their own home. I’m sure we can work together to achieve your breastfeeding goals.
I am a member and volunteer for the Boston Association of Childbirth Educators(BACE). I’m also a volunteer breastfeeding counselor for the Nursing Mother’s Council (NMC). My husband and I are the parents of two beautiful, active children.
• Want to meet other breastfeeding mothers? I facilitate a Nursing Mothers’ Council gathering. We meet from 10:30am – 12:00pm on the first Monday of the month at Temple Shalom. 175 Temple St., West Newton. It’s a great place to meet other mothers and share your experiences. Come join us!
